Welcome to St Thomas'! We are a small, but growing, church in the heart of the Groves area of York. We are committed to reaching out into our local community – serving people who are in need, and above all showing God’s love as best we can. We want to celebrate what God is doing in this wonderful part of His world.

Although we normally meet together each Sunday at 10.30am, and we hope that people find our gatherings welcoming, family-friendly, and full of God’s presence, because of the coronavirus pandemic we are not able to meet in person but instead are moving online and making other provisions for pastoral support.

If you live in this part of York, you can be assured that we are praying that God will richly bless you and that you will know his love and goodness in your life.

St Thomas News - 25th March 2020

Dear Church,

Following the stricter guidelines that have come into force this week, we are now not allowed to open the church for private prayer, nor indeed to live-stream from church as we did last Sunday. However, a live-stream from the vicarage is allowed, and so you will be able to follow from YouTube and Facebook once again - more details nearer the time. (There may indeed be noisy kids in the background this time, after all!)

We are keeping some things going digitally: there was an online Gospel Choir on Monday, and will be a virtual Babes and Tots group on Friday (see facebook.com/stthomasyork or get in touch for more details).

I have attached the latest daily readings from 1 Peter to the readings for Lent. These will continue until Sat 4th April, and then there will be something different to take us through Holy Week.

If you are looking for further resources for prayer, you may find some of the things the Church of England is offering here to be helpful.

Once again, if you are feeling unsupported or in need of contact please get in touch. Many people are connecting with small groups in various creative ways, and there is also the opportunity to be paired up with others to keep in touch over the phone. If you want to offer help in volunteering in any way, please also get in touch.

Our aim is to develop a rhythm during this time - the Sunday 'service', a Tuesday prayer meeting, perhaps a weekly live worship time, etc. More to follow!

With love and prayers,

Al
