Welcome to St Thomas'! We are a small, but growing, church in the heart of the Groves area of York. We are committed to reaching out into our local community – serving people who are in need, and above all showing God’s love as best we can. We want to celebrate what God is doing in this wonderful part of His world.

Although we normally meet together each Sunday at 10.30am, and we hope that people find our gatherings welcoming, family-friendly, and full of God’s presence, because of the coronavirus pandemic we are not able to meet in person but instead are moving online and making other provisions for pastoral support.

If you live in this part of York, you can be assured that we are praying that God will richly bless you and that you will know his love and goodness in your life.

St Thomas News - 15th May 2020

Dear Church,

I'm delighted that so many of you are finding the online services and other content, and the Groves Groceries, helpful and encouraging. This period is another reminder of the blessing of being part of God's family.

We'll be meeting again on Sunday at 10.30am for our main weekly service (Facebook and YouTube). Again we'll be streaming from Zoom, so there'll be a family-friendly prayer activity led by Charlotte, and others involved too. Keep praying the technology works!
Again we'll have prayer ministry offered afterwards on Zoom (meeting ID is again 631 970 6882).
The songs this week will be: It Is Well with my Soul (Spafford); Lord I Lift Your Name on High (Founds); Cornerstone (Hillsong); Amazing Grace - My Chains Are Gone (Chris Tomlin); In Christ Alone (Townend)

We've been able to make some DVDs of recent services for those who don't have internet but would like to watch. If you know of anyone, please let me know.

We will carry on for at least another week with the daily prayers at 1pm on Facebook. If you have been finding these helpful, do let us know as we decide how to carry on in future weeks (should they be every day? is 1pm a good time? etc)

There will be another Quiz Night on Tuesday at 7.30pm - if you would like to play (joining an existing team, or forming your own) please let This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. know.

I've been recording some videos about 'How to Read the Bible' and will continue to add to these next week - they are intended to encourage you in your personal Bible reading.

A couple of resources that are currently available online and that you might like to consider tapping into are The Prayer Course led by Pete Greig, and described as 'a eight-week journey through the Lord's Prayer'; and The Marriage Course from HTB, which is a seven-session course 'designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage'. Do take a look.

And coming up at St Thomas' - keep an eye on the Facebook and YouTube pages for uploads of videos for children and adults:
- TODAY at 6pm, 'Taste and See' worship and prayer time (Facebook)
- Sunday, 10.30am - Sunday service (Facebook and YouTube)
- Mon-Fri, 1pm - Daily Prayers (Facebook) - you can also post prayer requests anonymously if you use the 'virtual prayer box' on the Facebook page
- Mon, 7.30pm - Groves Gospel (Facebook)
- Tues, 9am - Prayer Meeting on Zoom (ID 631 970 6882)
- Tues, 7.30pm - Quiz Night
- Fri, 10.30am - Babes and Tots group (Facebook)

Hope that helps!
