Dear church family,
I hope you are well! Some news and updates...
This week, we have our usual service at 10.30am, as we continue to look at some of the challenges of a growing church. Book in here to join in the building, and if you're watching at home or with others you can join in as usual on Facebook or YouTube or you can join the Zoom call (631 970 6882).
This week we'll also be hearing a little from Phil and Frances Harding, back with us for a flying visit!
This Sunday we also have a time of prayer and worship at 6pm - a chance to come together and pray with people from St Wulstan's for our two parishes and our future together. Sorry this has not been better advertised, but please do come if you can! We aim to be finished by 7pm.
Covid Situation: I wrote about this in last week's email and don't want to repeat myself too much! Just a couple of brief things - first to reiterate that, if you have concerns or thoughts, please do let me know - we want to do all we can to make it possible for as many people to join with in-person worship as we can, so if there are things you'd like us to take into consideration do get in touch. Clearly the situation is going to be complicated, but we'll do our best.
And, on reflection, we will probably want to keep the seating arrangements similar to how they have been at least until the change in the rules regarding self-isolation on August 16th - this way the number of 'close contacts' (according to test and trace) those of us coming into the building will have will be much fewer.
Job Opportunity: We hope to appoint a part-time 'community and pastoral worker'. Here is the job description. Please get in touch if you'd like to know more or pass on to anyone you think might be interested. (This is essentially following on from Louise's role, but we have been waiting for developments re Covid before moving ahead.)
There are also several jobs currently advertised by Restore, the Christian charity offering homes to those who are homeless:
Part-time Fundraising Officer (0.6FTE) https://zurl.co/kNvZ
Part-time Marketing & Events Officer (0.4FTE) https://zurl.co/1rpN
Full time Maintenance Officer (1.0FTE) https://zcu.io/61vu
Part-time Cleaner (0.4FTE) https://zcu.io/SW9s
A reminder of the current rhythm for Tuesdays and Thursdays:
Tuesdays at 12.30pm (in church and livestreamed) we are preaching through Colossians - this week's talk from Sam is here
Thursdays at 12.30pm (in church) we have a communion service, followed by a cafe inside church from 1-2pm.
All are welcome to join the Tuesday prayer meeting at 9am on Zoom (ID 631 970 6882)
Thanks for reading - a final thought from Psalm 4.6-7. David writes:
Many people say, “Who will show us better times?”
Let your face smile on us, Lord.
You have given me greater joy
than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
Let's pray, as he does, that God would bless us with his joy, so that others may see his goodness and love is these difficult times.
