St Thomas News 12th February 2021

Dear Church Family,

I pray you're experiencing God's grace and peace as the lockdown continues - we'll be thinking about God as our Rock (a final look at Psalm 62) in the livestream service this Sunday, as well as hearing an update and praying for Louise in Belgium. Please join on Zoom (631 970 6882), Facebook or YouTube

There are new videos to watch on YouTube/Facebook - both from Sam on Revelation and also from Claire about the building project. Do take a look!

For those who appreciate the small communion services we had been holding, be assured we are keeping this under review hope to move back to a weekly service soon.

Lent: We are going to be doing 'Live Lent' together as a church - short daily readings, and this is what we will theme our Sunday services around in Lent, too. If you would like the daily readings digitally, you can sign up for emails or download an app. For a physical booklet, please let me know.

I hope Lent will be a time when we can put into practice the opening refrain of Psalm 62 - 'for God alone my soul waits quietly'. One opportunity to do this will be some Bible reflections over Zoom led by Marian and Phil. These will be along the lines of reading a passage slowly together, taking time quietly alone to reflect, and then an opportunity to share at the end. The first one will be Sunday 21st Feb at 7pm on the usual church Zoom: 631 970 6882.

Christmas Decoration Pick-Up: If you loaned some Christmas decorations, trees, nativities etc to be used in the Festival before Christmas, you can com and pick them up on Tuesday between 12pm and 3pm. Come to the door of the church hall and Sam or I will let you go through to church to collect what's yours. If you can't make that time, please let me or Jo know and we'll sort something else. If you were donating your things for us to keep, that's fine!

Other Things Coming Up:
Difference Course - Jo Bloss and Ruth Dunlop are running a new course called 'Difference'. This is a Christian course looking at how we can live with and get along with others who think differently from us. More info is attached and the course outline is here. It's five sessions on Thursdays at 7pm on Zoom (starting Feb 25th). To find out more or register your interest, contact Ruth or Jo.

Young Adults 'Virtual Away Day' - On Saturday 20th Feb: in the morning, some input from Chris and Suzy Wilson and a 'Lent Reset' with Lucy Rycroft; in the evening some games and social time! More details and a sign up form here

Building Project Open Meeting - for anyone not in a small group or who hasn't been able to go along to their small group's discussion with Claire Smith. Claire will be leading this session to get your thoughts about the building project, Monday 1st March, 5.15-6.30pm. It will be on the usual Zoom ID 631 970 6882.

And finally, from Colossians 3: Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

God bless,

Al
